Asking for your Advice

I know someone in Middle School who is very very shy.  We're friends but I don't go to her school.   She wants to reach out and make friends at her school, but is scared that she will be rejected.  She is not weird or anything, she is actually smart and funny---just very shy.    I tell her to just take a deep breath and go up to others and speak to them, but again, she is scared.   What advice do you have for her??

  1. Perhaps trying to calm her, people aren't scary as you think. Maybe tell her first to go for the people that have the same likes...?

  2. Maybe you could ask her to for instance hold a door open for someone or something, and then they may thank her and start the conversation?

I was shocked about how the description of the girl matches myself. In that case, I guess it would probably be beneficial to give my advice.
Possibly, maybe if by chance she's near a group of people that she likes and they're having a conversation, she could try to join in (like saying "I know, right?" to be small) a little bit as well.

  4. How I met my first best friend in middle school, was we were sitting next to each other in the seating chart in Science. She started talking to me, we compared interests, and bam! We're BFFs! Maybe she could try something like that!

  6. I was like this before too. I think she should help someone, talk with her partners first, like asking for a book or something. Hope this helps.
